“Sing a new song to the Lord!
Let the whole earth sing to the Lord!
Sing to the Lord; praise His name.
Each day proclaim the good news that he saves!
Publish his glorious deeds among the nations.
Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.” Psalm 96:1-3
Each day– that means every day.
Every single day we have something to tell others about how God saves. Even on our hardest days, we can tell others how He has worked in the past or how we see Him fighting on our behalf today.
I wonder sometimes if I should be sharing this deeply on the internet about how God has worked in my struggles with depression. Doubts creep…what if I find vulnerability to prove to be a negative thing? Putting myself out there can be scary, especially when I am talking about something I have been so good at hiding in the past. It is humbling to share with others when I am in the midst of depression.
After an especially hard weekend, I came across a new song that met me where I am at. Then I opened the Bible this morning to Psalm 96 and what do I read, “ Sing a new song to the Lord!” Check!
And the Psalm goes on to say that each day I should proclaim the good news that he saves. This very day. Just how I am on this ordinary Monday in June, I should “publish his glorious deeds among the nations.” So, here I got on my computer to write about how God is working in my depression. You can read more about that in this post. It’s terrifying at times but I believe opening up a in this way is something God is asking me to do.
“Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.” Not just my spouse, or my closest confidants, but everyone.
Is there someone you can share with today about how God has been there for you in your hardest moments? How He has saved you?
If you feel at a loss of thinking what He has rescued you from, I pray that you will come to see it. That you will have eyes to see the ways He is working on your behalf. I know for a long time, I didn’t see it and I know what it is like to feel that way. Hang on, dear one. As I have learned, He is surely working, whether you see it or not.
You’re brave, Marissa, by God’s grace. You bless many. Continue to obey the Spirit’s prompting 🙏😍
