RESOURCES YOU CAN WATCH:
These have personally been a help to me:

  1. Postpartum Depression: More Than the Baby Blues
A local news station here in Anchorage did an awesome news story on postpartum depression. It is an hour long special that helps differentiate between the levels of postpartum depression that exist through real life stories.
  2. Dark Side of the Full Moon–Two moms made a postpartum depression documentary that does an amazing job of showing the gap in medical/psychiatric care for moms struggling with PPD. If you have Amazon Prime, you can watch it for free! This is a good resource for those who are supporting a mom who is struggling. While it doesn’t present much solutions, it does a good job of showing how much of an illness postpartum depression really is and the need for better care for moms!

RESOURCES WITHIN ALASKA:

Here is a resource list that the news anchor, Ariane Aramburo, from KTUU directed me to (she actually did the story on PPD because of her own struggle with it):

Alaska Resource List for Perinatal Mood Disorders

Welcome!

Hi! I’m Marissa. I have a passion to see those with depression find help and healing. I’m a wife, mom, and Jesus follower who has survived postpartum depression as well as reoccuring depression, anxiety & PMDD.

God has done such a huge work in me–all while living and doing ministry in Alaska, an unlikely place for a depressed person to thrive.
I hope something in my story encourages you. Even if you are depressed, you are NOT alone!
