Working through depression is like untangling a messy ball of yarn.
Sometimes you don’t know where to start.
It is apparent that we as people are not just a body, not just a soul, not just a mind, or a spirit. Since we are ALL of those, it makes sense that depression would affect all of who we are. But it can make pinpointing the root of depression very, very complex.
How I view healing is also full of complexity. So much of it is like asking the question, “which came first, the chicken or the egg?” Did the chemical make-up of my brain cause me to have terrible thinking patterns that led to feeling depressed? Or did a trauma happen in my life that caused the thinking patterns which caused my body/brain chemistry to adapt?
Thankfully I am not a doctor and haven’t figured that one out yet. Whew!
But I believe healing can come in all three ways: physically, emotionally, spiritually. At least mine did!
While I am not a doctor or a counselor, I have been helped by both. But I realize there is not always spiritual help when it comes to depression. Or at least knowing where to find it can be difficult. I pray that this will be one small place that you can find spiritual encouragement as well as point you in the direction of seeking good medical and counseling help.
