The dark thought I struggled with the most over the years and especially during my postpartum depression is “everyone would be better off without me.” Or another one like it, “I would be doing everyone a favor if I was gone.” Or “Someone else would be a better mom to my kids.”
All these years later I can see those thoughts for what they are: Lies.
Has anyone told you lately how valuable you are? That your life has unique purpose that only you can fulfill? That you are the handpicked mom for your children. There are attributes and qualities you have that God wants to use to shape your children into the people they are growing to be. Your personality and characteristics cannot be replaced.
Has anyone told you that you are precious to the God who created you? He thought you up. There is only one you and you are infinitely, incredibly dear to Him.
And that in the midst of all this pain and sadness, His eyes are fixed on you. He is aware of your pain. He is not blind to it. And He is working much more than you can understand in all of this. Hold on, dear one.
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cries… Psalm 34:15
I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction and knew the anguish of my soul. Psalm 31:7
