Sometimes I get inspired to write poetry.
I wrote this poem this afternoon after a discouraging morning of battling self, sin, and too many thoughts of defeat. It’s not easy to put this out there in cyberspace. If I’m honest, it’s just a little beyond my comfort zone, but here it goes:
Concerning how we relate to God and trying to measure up…
“What if we make it
harder than it’s supposed to be?
What if time spent at Your feet
knowing I’m loved
is where I’m supposed to be.
That all this striving & trying & failing
isn’t what You had in mind.
But resting,
leaning,
knowing Your love divine.
Time spent here is time well spent.
As simple as a child being held.
Where I rest upon You
& think of all You’ve done.
Maybe we make it harder than it needs to be…”
Great poem Marissa. Thanks for this encouragement…I needed it today. ~ Maddie
